Keeping You Pointed in the Right Direction

SCHAAP JAILJack Schaap was at one time the pastor of one the largest mega churches in the country (First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana). His messages grew increasingly alarming with references of God’s desire to have intimacy with us the way a husband needs intimacy with a wife.

In the summer of 2012 it was discovered he had been engaged in a sexually abusive relationship with an underage 16 year old female.

He was fired from his church and pleaded guilty. Jack has been in jail since September awaiting sentencing.

I have written other articles on this subject and his sin. I simply do not have the stomach to try and sort out the reasons why he did what he did. The new pastor of FBC in Hammond, John Wilkerson, summed up the feelings of many us who knew Jack Schaap when he said,  “I’m still his friend, I still love him but now there’s not that admiration.”

The link to the Post-Tribune artcile dated march 13th outlines the US Attorney’s plea with the judge for a ten year sentence by sharing details from the “love” notes Schaap gave to his victim.
